Philcophone question - kstesney - 08-30-2006
I wonder if the Philcophone (an intercom) has an internal antenna wrapped inside the cabinet. The reason I ask is because the cabinet looks just like the cabinet for PT-25, PT-26, PT-27 radio models and I have a chassis for the PT-26 but no cabinet. There is a Philcophone for sale on eBay I could buy and use it for the PT-26 chassis if the Philcophone cabinet has an internal antenna. Anyone know? Thanks.

The PhilcoPhone intercom system has no built-in antenna - no need. It was not ever a radio of any kind - just an audio intercom system.
The early Model 901/902 came in boxy wooden cabinets and the later Model 908/909 used the bakelite cabinet similar to the PT -xx series radios.
This later version used the small round chrome remote speakers that many people mistake for a standard microphone. It's simply a PM speaker that
can function as a dynamic mic, as other intercoms utilize.
