Missing 16X-126 dial mount
#1

Hello, everyone!

I'm working on a 16X chassis (version #4, 4 band) and there is a part missing in the dial assembly.  I'd like to find out what to call it so I can seek the right item.

The tuning knob shafts are present and functioning correctly but the metal disc that supports the dial is missing.  I presume that this disc would attach to the shaft extending forward from the variable tuning capacitor.  Perhaps this part was also used in other sets of the era?

What am I looking for?  Is it simply called "Dial Assembly?  I see that entry on the parts list but wonder if applies to what I'm looking for.

Thanks, in advance, for your replies.

If you scroll down the page of this link http://mcclellans.com/Philco16BCathedralRestoration.htm there is a photo of the front of the chassis with the dial and the metal piece that holds the dial. Someone else may have a better photo of it, but that can give you some idea of what you're looking for I think.

Thanks, Bob!

I looked at that page and wondered if it would be the same critter.  When looking at a replica dial at RadioDaze, the number of rivet holes is right.

Wonder how many other sets used that same part?

Hold the phone, guys.

The link at mcclellans.com shows a 16 Code 121. Totally different animal, different dial (5-band instead of 4-band), different dial drive.

I just happen to be in the midst of working on a 16B Code 125 tombstone which has the same mechanism as yours, Mike (k9uw). Give me a day or two, and I'll take some photos of it.

Oops...sorry Mike...my mistake. I figured the mounting mechanism would be the same.

Thanks, Ron! I'll look forward to knowing what I'm looking for and a picture will trump my ability to describe it in words

Not to worry, Bob. We're making progress!

Here, at last, the promised photos:

Sorry, my iPhone decided the background needed to be in focus here instead of the set screw which holds the dial in place. Icon_rolleyes But hopefully you can make it out.

One more:

Thank you, Ron!

Now I know what to look for.  Is it safe to assume that this part is called a "Dial Assembly"?  In your experience, is this part unique to the model 16 or does is show up in other models as well?

The only models using this dial are 16-125, 16-126, and the late version of model 144 that has the dual concentric shaft tuning.
