A friend has gotten a line on this nice console, & was wondering what
a fair price would be.
The unit belongs to his neighbor, who just decided to get rid of it.

I've already cautioned about the filter caps probably being shaky, &
not playing the unit, but He says the unit has been played  right along,
& they played records on it.

I'm guessing this unit was made in 1949 by the model number.
Couldn't find it in the Sams index, so if a person was to replace caps
& out of spec resistors, it would be flying by the seat of your pants--
so to speak.

Thanks for any info.

Some day, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, accept this justice as a gift

Much obliged for the tip, Sam. Looks to be the unit in question.
Thanks.

What's it's worth???
That's a good question. Generally speaking it's not quite old enough to be really collectable. Seems like post war sets don't bring much unless they have an unusual design. Consoles are getting hard to get rid of unless they have a lot of knobs and a high tube count.
The chassis on that set is pretty pedestrian. Typical "AC-DC" set with a voltage doubler power supply. Will only work on AC because of the phono motor and the voltage doubler.
Personally I would not mess with it there too many better sets to waste time on. With that being said I would guess at somewhere around $25-50.
Sorry to be so brutal!

Yep, second around $50 price.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Value? Anywhere between free and maybe $50 on a very good day, that's if everything works, radio and phonograph. From my personal point of view I would not waste my time with it unless it's really cheap or free, for one thing it's too new, for another it has rather uninspired styling, finally it takes up floor space that could be occupied by something much more interesting, like any Philco console made between 1928 and 1948. If it had a television set built into one end I would say different, the radios built into those usually had an FM band at least.

Thanks for the input, folks. I'll forward
the info to my guy.
