Model 37 Series Code 121
#1

Hi, I have a battery operated superhet here on the table. I have found no other model number. I'm used to the first two numbers denoting year, as in 40-140 for instance. With it's 4 pin tubes (two 32, 15, 19, 30, and 6) it seems like it should be older than 1937. Am I mistaken? BTW, The 6 tube socket has been jumped.

The chassis and speaker look like something I saw in an old cathedral cabinet once, but this one has a long rectangular cabinet. Perhaps the 37 series was used in more than one style cabinet? I wonder if there is an AC chassis that would fit my cabinet.

Just trying to find out what I'm dealing with. Please don't go to big trouble. Thank You, terry h

Hi Terry

It looks like this, correct?

http://www.philcoradio.com/gallery/1932c.htm#b

Model 37 was a battery-operated receiver that Philco introduced in Fall 1932. Besides this table model cabinet, it was also available as a console.

Model 37 is roughly the battery-operated equivalent of Model 52.

Hi Ron, That is her...or is it she? Nice group of pictures! Should be a fairly easy one to refinish if I can find out how to treat or replace the inlay trim. Thanks!

Good Health To Ya, terry h
