tunner and dial poiner help Philco 52-541
#1

Hello everyone,
got couple quick questions I'm working a Philco model 52-541 trans-tone radio not the car one
Well first of all the rubber mounts for the tunner are getting cracked and hard the bummer it that there is rivet like piece holding the rubber bushing on well I would like your input on a fix for this also the either problem is that dial pointer rubs on the cabinet making scratching sound because see this set does not have dial glass rather it just has cutout and it seems just string presure causes the pointer to lift out at it's bottom .
like said before hopely some has a good idea or two.
Sincerely Rich
P.S. heres a couple of photos

Radiorich, a dremmel tool with small grinding wheel will take care of removal of the rubber grommet. Replacing the grommet can be done using flat-rubber faucet washers from Lowes plbg dept & abit of your own creativeness!
As far as the dial-needle "lift" while turning the tuning dial knob, try "squeezing" the top-part of dial pointer together that glides across the back dial metal frame that holds the pointer in-place. Make sure the dial-string is riding on its pulleys and hasnst slipped-off the pulley(s). Also check how your dial pointer attaches to the dial-string drive cable, and isnt bent incorrectly. Close visual inspection will yield results assured! What is a "tunner"? ( hee hee)!! Mas Cerveza!! ol Tex!!

Hello Texasrocker
Thanks for the info I'll check out the tunning far as the dial string goes and pulleys
Sincerely Rich
P.S. I was also thinking to take regular grommet and cut ridge off of one side
