I just got this Philco today. Were there early and late chassis types or are they all the same on this model? I am wondering because I know they did this with the 16x series using the earlier 5 band and later 4 band version in the same cabinet.
How similar is the rf sub chassis to the 38-690?
I havent actually seen it yet, my friend picked it up for me in PA today. I have to get there next week and bring it home.

Hello, Steve: the 38-116X is an excellent radio! The RF deck is pretty tough to work on. I did the one in my 37-116X, it was NOT easy.
