Arvin 182TFM Alignment ?
#1

I've been working on this one for a while and I have the same problem and that is identifying grids on tubes.
http://www.nostalgiaair.org/pagesbymodel...012465.pdf

In the procedure calls for connecting to the Converter grid through a .05 cap to the signal gen? Now the paperwork lists the 12BE6 as the OSC Converter
 Pin #1 Ocs grid, or 6,7. ???
Does it matter the position the tuner is paper work does not say?

Thanks Eric

Pin 7, I think.
Dial should be set at some lower frequency, like 560-580kc.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

This thing is making me crazy  Icon_redface Icon_redface Icon_redface Icon_redface
It appears I have an intermittent problem.
1-FM works and has from day one.
2-The AM will come on play for a while then fade out.
3- I have checked and replaced all resistor out of Tolerance
4- Tubes have been checked and I have had put replacements in no change
5- I have done voltage checks and do not see anything crazy I'm using a digital meter
6- it is not working more than it is, I've poked and prodded looking for cold solder Joints
7- Had no problem doing an alignment on the am side tone was where it was supposed to be.

I'm beginning to think I might have a capacitor going bad, there are a lot of small dog bone PF capacitors?
Any idea's on where to look??

Thanks Eric

When it fades out do the tubes stay lit??
Could have an intermittent filament or bad connection at the socket.

Use a second receiver to listen for the local osc @ 455kc above the broken set's dial setting when it's faded out.
This will rule out an intermittent osc coil.

You can use your signal generator to troubleshoot by ejecting a 455kc signal at the ant when faded.
This will tell you if the IF,det, and audio are the issue.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
Circa 1966
Now I think I've got!
