AMI E120 jukebox speaker recone
#1

Well I finally got the jukebox playing correctly picking up the records and playing and returning with no hang ups.
Problem was just did not sound real good.
Since I had rebuilt the amplifier and rewound the output transformer and installed a new cartridge/needle. I decided to give a try at re-coning the 15"
speaker. The cone had some small holes and the outer part was very thin.

I had to order the parts from three different places due to the odd sizes of the voice coil and spider the is glued to a frame of it's own.

Here is the spider and frame that had to be cleaned up and new one glued on.

Above pic is the voice coil , spider, and shim in position for the cone. This took a lot of trial fitting to get the voice coil and spider set to the right height.

Finally complete. I tested it with my audio generator and just an hor ago had it in the jukebox and sounding soooo much better.

I'll post some pictures of the jukebox tomorrow.

That is a really nice job Mike Icon_smile

I don't hold with furniture that talks.
