Ron: Thanks for the tube tip. I replaced the 27 & 47 tube but the moisyy problem has returned. I tried advancing the volume control quickly and then turning it back to a normal level and the static stopped for a while then came back. I did the volume control again and it stopped again. Could it be a faulty volume control? Any other ideas. Claude

Perhaps some DeOxit in the volume control might help, unless the wire in one of the controls (it is a dual volume control, and both sections are wirewound) is intermittently opening up. Resistance measurements (with the set off and unplugged) will reveal this.

Also, replacement of one or more of the 24 tubes may be necessary.
