cap question
#1

I want to restuff a metal cap (non elec) it is a .50uf. The only cap I have close is a fat .47uf which will not fit inside the metal housing. Could I use two 1.0uf caps in series, or 2 .44uf caps in parallel? Im not sure what that does to the voltage value. The 1.0uf caps are only 400v, and the .22uf caps are 630v.

Two 1mFd caps in series would be 0.5 mfd, if it would fit....

Seems like I saw 0.5mFd electrolytics somewhere, they should be small enough to work in the can....

Here is a link to a site that sells .47mFd electrolytics, but they are radial lead, not axial.

Two .22 caps would be fine. Still 630V.

Sorry I wasn't clear the cap I'm trying to restuff is non-electrolytic. If I could parallel two .22 caps and get .44 and keep the voltage at 630V i'll go that route. Should be close enough to .50uf to work right?

Yes, that will work just fine.

Dan Double conversion is using two IF converters instead of one. This improves the image response. morzh — 07:15 PM
