Philco 39-45... help?
#16

Well... in the midst of soldering, I discovered some oil bubbling on the output transformer, and the readings there are way off (about 9M ohms where I should be getting 700 ohms)... I can see there are ways to replace this thing, but it would take more re-engineering than I'm really prepared to do just now. So for the moment, I'm going to put it back in the cabinet, and revisit the whole thing when I've got more time to give it.

Thanks for all the advice, hopefully I can make better use of it in the future than at the moment.

Sincerely,

David

A 1A slow blow should notr necessarily blow on inrush, especially considering the inrush in tube radios with tube rectifier is not capacitive.

THe output transformer change is quick and nearly painless: just pick one, especially considering a nearly universal rabge offered by Hammond in their 125 series, and they even often fit mechanically.
