first audio transformer problem in a Philco 90
#1

I think that the primary winding of the first audio transformer in my Philco 90, 2x45, radio is open somewhere. Its resistance is infinite, while the secondary is okay (more than 5,000 ohms, with half this amount between the extreme and central wires).

I have been looking at Hammond and I cannot find a substitute. The part number by Philco was 4952 and I found in your web site that this transformer had a ratio 1:3. What can I do? Do any of you know where I can find a substitute? It is possible that the problem is with the union between the wiring itself and its coonecting wires. They are so very fragile! I would like to have a look at these connections but they are covered by several layers of paper and I am afraind to spoil it even more!

Thank you.

HX-124A from Radio Daze would work.

Alternatively, you can bypass the open primary by using one of the circuits shown here on my website.
