1932 Mystery Cathedral Radio Restore on YouTube
#16

Hey Buzz,
If you have a couple of minutes to do a quick repair I have your mystery set's cousin. Should be a quick repair.
Your volume control isn't really a volume control but a rf gain control that's why it's a much lower resistance than a normal audio volume control. If you would like a bit of an explain of how it work read this starting at post 16. http://philcoradio.com/phorum/showthread...481&page=2

Good videos!

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
Circa 1966
Now I think I've got!

Hi Buzz,
Where measuring sm caps having your test leads twisted together is going to add abt one mmfd per twist, short leads are better than long. And yes capacitors are a handy thing, just think a couple of caps a couple resistors and a 1N34 and you've got AVC!!
Enjoy ur videos.
