Philco 44H /144B speaker swap?
#1

Does anyone know whether the speaker from a Philco 44H:

Will fit (physically) into a Philco 144B cabinet?
http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/philco_144.html

Were they the same or different size speakers?  And what are the sizes?  I would expect the console to be 10" and the cathedral to be 8", but that's just a guess and I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks!
Rodney

Hi Rodney,

The best resource for this kind of info is Ron's speaker spreadsheet - can be downloaded here:

http://www.philcoradio.com/phorum/showth...hp?tid=215

44H: H-14 speaker, 10-1/2"
144B: K-23 speaker, 8"

So as you expected they're not the same size. As for whether or not the console speaker could fit into the 144B cabinet I do not know for certain, but I suspect not.

Wow, excellent, thanks for confirming, Nathan.  And Ron, for compiling the spreadsheet.

Nathan, you know what I'm looking for!   Icon_smile
