Newbie with a 42-360 question
#1

I purchased a beautiful, working Philco 42-360 about a week ago. It looks great and is mostly complete -- but is missing the indicator behind the dial glass that would show which station it's tuned to. Is it possible to replace that?

You mean, the pointer?

I've just looked, not the Daze or Renovated have them (Renovated has some others but mostly rotary type).

Soldering a piece of thick 1mm copper wire to a piece of thick copper foil or a piece of tin and then bending the tin and clamping it onto the string could do the job until you find the real one.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Pointers can be a little tough to find. Usually folks are selling the entire chassis although occasionally on ebay someone will part out a set in some fashion. As morzh mentioned you may be able to fashion one for the time being.

Put a request in the "Wanted Ads" section of the Phorum and you may find that someone has something in their junk parts box that will work for you.

And this one - a 100 pointers, there is a couple that is similar to what you are looking for.

Type "radio pointer" in eBay search window.

Dan Double conversion is using two IF converters instead of one. This improves the image response. morzh — 07:15 PM
