42-345 case cleaning
#1

I cleaned this case with non-abrasive Goop. Seemed to clean it up a little. Basically this seems in good shape. No real dings or missing pieces - just some spots.

Just wondering what else might help - I’ve used some Howard Feed and Wax before on cases with good effect.

I use a stain marker on the trim then wipe on a coat of Howard walnut Restor-A-Finish.

I was reading this wood as oak but if it’s walnut ok.

Found this at lowes. Applied it - seems to look nice - I’ll let it dry overnight and see. Certainly it looks better already.

Seems much better this morning. Did an application of Feed and Wax along with some 1000 grit steel wool to remove some paint specks.

About as good as it is going to get I think. Some darkness and crazing on the finish but that’s just age. As a daily driver radio this will be quite acceptable I think.

What’s left now is just waiting for a few parts to finish up like the .006/1000volt cap. Easy radio to work on - minimal parts - only one or two caps hard to get at.
