I have been playing the radio for a while now and doing well. Turned it on today and all I got was a whole lot of noise. Took a look at the back to see if the antenna fell off and noticed the 42 tube glowing bright blue filling the whole bulb. Man what a site. Quickly turned it off. Playing well again with a replacement. Put the tube in the tester and saw a blue glow in the plates when I pushed the test button but no where near the brightness I saw in the radio. The tester did not show shorts. Guess I'll put that tube in the junk pile. Wonder what would have happened if it did that while playing and I was not in the room?

You would probably be replacing the OPT.

If the noise is still there, the OPT might just be OK. Or so we hope.
People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.
