I've completed restoration of a 1941 BOL changer. It plays fine at lower volumes. However, if I turn up the volume past a certain point, there's a low frequency flutter through the speaker and I see the light in the tonearm fluttering in brightness in sync with the sound flutter.
Any suggestions?

It also flutters with the tonearm unplugged and only on the phono setting - radio settings are fine. So, I suspect the phono preamp section is going into oscillation for some reason. Worked fine for several days, and now won't stop the fluttering.

Check the circuit that drives the exciter lamp. The clue is that you see it flutter.
