That's a neat Sparton, Gene. The dial should be something when it is illuminated.

Is there a cabinet to go with it?

I am hoping it will look ok. I was quite disappointed when I got there and found the dial broken. But I guess for $50 you can't expect a lot. Actually the guy was quite nice about it. He dropped the price once he saw the dial after I pulled the chassis out of the case. Plus his wife just wanted the radios gone!

Check with Radio Daze, they have a repop Sparton 1268 glass dial for sale.

Also Radiolaguy.com has what I'm assuming to be a glass scale... if you aren't picky, they also have a plastic one for half the cost. Icon_smile

Makes me kinda nostalgic for when I first started collecting radios. Only 14 years ago, but I can remember grabbing big consoles for $5-$10 alot of times. Good scores!

No matter where you go, there you are.

Jayce,
These just happened to show up on CL and the prices were right! I am a happy camper! I really need to stop this. I have enough radios now to work on for a loooonnnnnnggggg timeIcon_biggrin

It looks like a 1938 model, and it has a very similar dial to a Sparton table model I picked up about a year ago. Other then the cracks it looks like the dial had a few issues with flaking paint on this example so you may have been shopping for a replacement anyhow.

GREAT news!!! Looking forward to seeing some "finished" pics.

Looks to be a nice easy job to restore. No rubber wire, nice open chassis, simple design with a rf stage and single ended audio output.
