Zenith K725 Gone Belly Up
#1

I have a dead Zenith K725(similar to H725). There's not even static on it and I'm assuming without testing as yet the SE-1 selenium rectifier is bad. Oddly enough, last night I had it playing, turned it off after about an hour and tried today and totally dead as if not even plugged in. The tubes do light but that's it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Could be a number of things, although it is true that solid-state components either work or do not.

Test your tubes. A bad tube can still light up.

Test your coils/transformers, an open one can make your set exhibit the same symptoms.

I have to plead guilty on this one. I accidentally flipped the switch on the loop antenna that apparently switches it from radio to phono. Once I flipped it back it kicked in. I wish all fixes were that simple.

THAT is the BEST kind of fix!!!
