42-322 Back to Life
#1

I took a "do no harm" approach to this, my first, restoration.  The cabinet was pretty dirty and stained but I elected to see if it would clean up rather than go right to stripping it.  Some GoJo and 0000 steel wool, mineral spirits, lots of Qtips and elbow grease followed by walnut Howards Restore-A-Finish and she came out looking pretty good.  Replaced the glass dial since the original was flaking and put on new decals.  Before and after pics follow:

The radio was completely DOA but the electrical restoration was a pretty straight forward recap, a few resistors, candohm replacement, heat shrink on the rubber wiring and a couple tubes.  Thanks to several of you who helped me through this in earlier posts!!Icon_clap  She plays nicely on both broadcast and SW.  On to the next project...a Philco Jr. Model 80 Icon_biggrin

Thanks guys!
Terry, the dial's a reproduction. No way to save the old one. The printing on it was gone in a number of places and it flakes away very easily. I've read its a very common problem for this and similar dials.
