Spoke to Radiodaze yesterday about Grill cloth...
#1

Was buying some wires, and asked about the replacement cloth.
She said that the manufacturers overseas wanted about $1M to re-engage to this line of business, which does not leave me too hopeful.
I told her that maybe several radio parts businesses need to chip in and raise that $1M; we laughed a little.
Looks like we will have to do without the replacement cloth for the nearest (and some moderately remote) future.

It sucks, gentlemen!

Thanks for taking the time to talk to them and give us an update. Yeah, it doesn't look to good for now. Looks like it's back to cutting up old couches! Icon_lol

Not only I know this seller, I bought this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-RADIO-GR...4852f4e764

from him a month ago to re-drape my 18.

But. None of those is really too close to what I needed, or to what many of us will need, though some can be used.

Yes hard to beat the original. I hate shopping at fabric stores.

My B.S meter is going off the scale on this one. If it's a million dollars for set up cost to have someone make repro grille cloth now how could Antique Radio Grille cloth dot com afford to have it made up before? How come Ken Richmond is having brand Z cloth made right now? I think someone just doesn't know the answer and is making it up, or just wasn't trying to hard and got the "go away and don't bother us" quote from a manufacturer who wasn't really interested.
On this subject i suggested the SMS company in Oregon who supplies reproduction fabric for antique and collector cars, Original Automotive Interiors was another. Someone contacted SMS about this and they sounded interested, then that someone passed it onto Radio Daze whom it sounds like they round filed that information. Believe me if SMS had to pay $1 million to set up to have one pattern of auto fabric made they wouldn't be in business.
Regards
Arran
