Here is a picture that is not the best lighting, I will take it outside later today for some better pictures. I have put it next to other radios that have that very dark look but you just know that its not black and this one still looks black. There are none of the tell tale signs of refinishing that makes me believe it is the original finish. I have not seen another so have nothing to compare to.

I have an 18b with the same "style" finish that is original and although pictures you see make them look black this one is a really really dark brown. Actually the only way to see its brown is to hold something black against it in good light.

Kirk, you brought those radios back from the dead before, and you'll do it again with even better results this time. Sometimes, after something like this happens, you just need to walk away and take a break for a while.
