41-290 Faceplate Color
#1

I have a reproduction faceplate for my 41-290. It seems way to red (Mahogany) for my radio. Has anybody else had this issue? I'm wondering if I should try a light coat of toner...

I would post a photo, but I no longer have a photobucket account.

Ha. I guess I figured out the picture thing.

Have you looked at the 41 pictures http://www.philcoradio.com/gallery/1941a.htm

I just got what looks the same as yours for my 41-280 and my original is warped & cracked but would guess there was a bit of differences in the originals also.

The pictures of the 41s look like there was a fair difference, but may be just the photo taking.

What did you use to clean up your brass strip? Looks good. I don't want to mess mine up cleaning.

I used GoJo on the station calls for the push buttons and the 3 little clear covers I have.

Have you found any links on what is being used to gin up new push button call letters?

I just used Brasso on a rag to clean my brass strip.
I found a link to scans of original push button call letter sheets. I downloaded the attachment, but don't remember who's thread it was on, so I can't give credit where credit is due. I can send you the attachment if you PM me your email address.

WOW those are greatIcon_mrgreen Thanks

The complete set is also a great resource of the stations licensed so I grabbed both 41 & 42.

Did you print them on anything special? My 7 originals do not seem to be on regular paper. They cleaned up OK with GoJo and a water rinse.

I plan to reuse as many as I can. I have not printed any yet, but will probably use tea stained cardstock, to get that vintage look.
