Mystery 1940s Philco
#1

There is currently a Philco AM/SW Phonograph console on Ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-30s-PHIL...4d22190bd6
which seems similar to some of the lost 1942 models and to some of the 1946-47 models but does not match any of them exactly. Any idea what model this actually is?

Says 46-1226 on the chassis

How the heck did you see that? I cant even see where the numbers would be... Good job hawk eyes Icon_lol

I am on an iPhone, you can zoom in far enough to read the tube numbers if the picture is clear.
#5

Yes 46-1226 but 46 and 12 are very faint.

You don't need to zoom even.
#6

OK, I see it now. Somehow I skipped over the close up of the back of the chassis. I also found it in the 1946 model pictures too. Another senior moment!Icon_rolleyes

Yep, 46-1226. Recognized before even looking at the chassis. (I have its big brother the 47-1230 and looked at lots of those consoles on internet...)

Its price is, as usual, 10 times too high. But those consoles are awesome.

Hi,
Lost 1942 consoles? What am I missing?
Thanks,
Henry

It's lost 1946 Philcos (not only consoles), not lost 1942 models.

http://www.philcoradio.com/gallery/1946b.htm

These are models proposed by Philco for its new postwar 1946 line that were never put into production. As you will see, many did not make the cut. Some did appear in the 1948 season.

Ron,
Thanks for the update. Now that I see that I recall seeing it before.
