New (to me) 57C
#1

Sorry, I am coming in late on this thread.  I have a Philco 57C that has been refurbished.  I am attempting to use it at my office.  Is it possible to use a home built antenna inside that will give me some reception?  I can pick up one station without too much effort (holding wire up to the 2 antenna connections).  I am very much a newby with these radios.

Thanks!

welcome to the phorum
guess it depends on what kind of office your in old building or new.  on how well it would work
best to use long wire around or under carpet  with ground wire to water pipe or heater duct.
you can spend few bucks to get am transmitter and use that way you play any thing you like

Not exactly true, but close.  I bought the 57C at an auction years ago and my father knew someone who got it working for me.  It has a newer power cord and I believe had a tube or two replaced.  I am interested in any thoughts on an antenna.  I have it at work and my office is in the middle of a concrete building (old Best Buy).  I had a suggestion on an AM transmitter which sounds very promising.  I would appreciate any advice offered.

Thanks.

Thank you Mafiamen.  I think the AM transmitter sounds really cool.  I did some research and it looks like I might be able to build one  (I am cheap)!  Icon_smile

I appreciate this and any other advice!

hi rob
if going with am transmitter  one I use and most here I think use is
sstran you build it your self comes as  kit but you need to know how to soldier as parts  are small
but worth it  about 100.
then you can use ipod or phone or computer to play what you like
