Question on output tubes for the 37-116
#1

The schematics and other info I have clearly states the 37-116 uses 6B4G output tubes. My set has 6A5G output tubes. Both tubes are the earlier marked PHILCO etched into the base. Also, the cabinet info sticker states 6A5G output tubes. Now, I assume there may be differences between earlier and later models? Can anyone clear this up?

Yours is a later production, Code 126 receiver. This change is mentioned in the free "Philco Changes In Models" package I have available here:

http://www.philcoradio.com/phorum/showth...hp?tid=215

According to the Changes In Models packet, the cathodes of the 6A5G tubes are grounded, and the hum control rheostat (128) is eliminated.
