Philco 95 Highboy Deluxe
#1

Hi,

I purchased a fully restored, cosmetically original 1929 HighBoy Deluxe a couple of years back. This set has a plaque, just above the escutcheon, bearing the words Screen Grid Plus. It has recently come to my notice that other model 95s I see on the net are missing this plaque.

Any ideas? Were a few produced like this when the set was first introduced?

Where is the photo of yours?

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Just follow the link to the page on my website.... I didn't want to post it here directly w/o resizing....

Ok, here's the smaller image from my 95 detail page.... Note the plaque above the escutcheon...

Wow, Paul,

You certainly know how to find the rare birds! Icon_thumbup Icon_thumbup

In all of my years of collecting (41 years, the last 25 specializing in Philco), I have never seen a 95 with a tag above the escutcheon like that.

Now having seen this, I am wondering the same thing as you mentioned - if perhaps a few early production Screen Grid Plus models had this additional piece above the regular escutcheon?
