Mike Osc AM radio transmitter?
#1

Ok, so I am full of projects over the last month or so, and this guy is another attempt at something different. An Ebay find while bidding (and losing Icon_neutral ) on a Heathkit AM transmitter. This one was a lot less $$$. I am guessing made in 1953, judging from the markings on the box. It has 2 tubes, 1L4 and 1R5. Both test good. I am sure this is not a powerhouse, but something to play with. What I don't like is that this is a live chassis set. I will put a polarized plug on it to help. I make a cabinet for it if I like the way it works. If not, I may use it for parts to make something else.

I have started the recap. My main question is about the selenium rectifier replacement. I think I recall that if this is replaced with a diode that a resistor must be put in series. Any suggestions? Or maybe this is one area that a little more voltage may be beneficial (with new caps of course)? No schematic. No brand. Nothing. Any help appreciated.
