The other name for the cm is Statfarad.
The reason I knew CGSE abd CGSM was (other than their existance that we were advised of) that instead of the recommended Electricity Physics book by Kalashnikov (yes the same last name as that of the AK inventor) which was not that good I got the book of D.V. Sivukhin, who taught in the Moscow PhysTech, the best and most advanced Soviet college. It was a great book, well written and it used CGSE/CGSM systems as they simplify the heck out of Electricity math (Kalashnikov used SI, hence all those hideous 4*Pi*E0 multipliers everywhere). I got A on my exam.
Example:
In SI the capacitance of the sphere in vacuum is
C=4*Pi*Eo*R
where R is the radius, and Eo has dimension.
(Earth is 710 uF)
In CGSE
C=R.
