Philco 41-250
#1

Hello, all... I'm new to the forum, but not to vintage radios. I have a collection of about 50 or so that I've been acquiring since my Dad bought me an RCA K-15 when I was 9 or so. He was a radio engineer, and taught me about radio repair. I am writing because I just picked up a Philco 41-250 in very nice condition, already recapped and working. I have some questions about some things I find odd about it, based on research I have done. The first question, it is a 25 cycle set... I thought household 25 cycle power was done away with years before this was made in 1941?....Second involves the face. It is shrunk, cracked, mildewed..you know what they become....anyway, it is different than all the others I have seen online, as well as the repros, as it has a gold stripe around the perimeter, from screw hole to screw hole. Also, the "PHILCO" decal is not on the top above the dial,,, it was on the face between the volume and band knobs.Unfortunately, it disintegrated as I was cleaning the gray-white mildew off the face. Can anybody shed some light on this for me?

Note from site admin: Sorry, but the photos which were attached to this post are no longer available.
