Philco 37-84, code 121
#18

>So ... are you recommending I remove the grounds from the chassis and put them "above ground"?
No. What I was referring to was that heater center tap connection and the 6v tubes being floating which was done on on the model 84. On the 37-84 code 122 one side of the heater circuit is grounded along with one side of the 6v heater winding. I just didn't want you to connect the tap along with one of the 6v end windings. This would short half of the 6v winding out. If your transformer doesn't have a tap then you are all set. If it's wired correctly you can remove the 80 tube plug the set in turn it on and the three remaining tubes should light. Check the voltage across pins 1 and 6 should see abt 6vac.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
Circa 1966
Now I think I've got!

Oh yes, many bumblebees and loktal tubes. The cutout is for the speaker.  Here's a photo from a different set. Bob Andersen — 12:59 AM
