Something missing from this 46-1209 tuning shaft
#4

Thanks for the input so far. There have been a couple of caps replaced under the chassis but no signs of significant repair. However, something bad has happened to this chassis, as several of the pushbutton shafts have been sheared off in addition to this problem with the tuning shaft. The P/B assembly is not a big deal, but if I can't get the radio to physically tune a station it won't be worth repairing. Too bad, since I jumped in some new filter caps last night, repaired the broken speaker cable and was able to get some radio "noise" out of it, so it could live if I can find a fix for the tuning shaft. Does the gear on the end of the dhaft have to rotate or can it be afixed to the shaft? Maybe I could solder a gear to the end of the shaft. I realize I would lose some of the fine-tuning capability but at least it would work after a fashion.
