Actually there is a guy on You Tube (shango066) that fixes up a lot of Packard Bell TVs who figured out that you can get the safety glass to unbond by soaking the face of the tube in a bathtub or a bucket of water for a few weeks. It's slow but at least it isn't as dangerous as the heat method.
