I don't know guys. It's 4" below the only dial lamp and you wouldn't see any light down there anyway. Lamp has a "lamp shade" type housing around it that directs the light directly to the beam of light opening to the dial. Here's the typical escutcheon for this -610. Wouldn't matter if light escaped down lower on the dial or not.

Not trying to be argumentative at all and I do appreciate the input but I don't think it's anything to do with light. There is a "Scale Guard" on the parts list for $.02. I'm just not sure what that is.
