The clock face is faded badly. It looks like it sat facing the sun for decades, although the cabinet itself looks pretty good - only missing the finial.
Someone had a reproduction clock face at the Extravaganza flea market today, Debbie found it and picked it up for me.

So now we have two Philco GFCs - this 89 and a 52. Someone had a Philco 71 grandfather clock in the flea market - the same seller that had the repro clock face. So now I can say I've seen every known version.
