You are correct Ron, There is a spring.
The dial cord on the light is also heavier than the regular tuning pointer.
I finally found a metalized cord that holds to the light OK. It just fits under the tab in the light. The light slides on regular dial cord. I still have the original broken cord in the picture and can mike it if you need the diameter.
If you need a bit of what I used PM me with the length you need, I can measure the broken cord that came off my 41-280 or say a foot and your snail mail. You can donate what ever you think it's worth & the postage to the forum when you get it.
