Stratosphere 1000Z Restoration
#1

Ladies and Guys,

I have started another Strat chassis restoration. It will take a while.

I have started a blog post with pictures, videos and such that will touch on many of the aspects that make this radio special.

This is an experience many would !ove to have but few ever will.
My white envy to you.
I know you will do stellar job on it.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

I look forward to following your Blog Russ, I learn lots from you and wish I had 1/4 of your talent.

That's quite a job doing a chassis deconstruction on a 1000Z, that for documenting your process.

Your resistors look beautiful and all of your work is inspiring to all of us.  Have you documented how you make the resistors?

John

I believe Steve has thread(s) on how he makes those.
Not sure but Russ might have published his also.

I don't think that I did a video (yet) but it was explained - somewhere. Might get to that.

Yes, I know of Steve's method:

And Nathan has a similar method:

And there is a guy who molds them out of epoxy putty:

I think Russ once said he uses parts from the originals, but I don't want to derail this excellent 1000Z thread any further.

Updates on the Power/amp chassis including rebuilding the original filters.

At this point it might be usefull to reference the earlier project:
