Hot little Philco
#1

Well some time has passed since I posted a photo of this 53 562.  Finally got her playing and have to say for a 5 tube mid century job she is a hot set.
Picks up all the locals, NYC stations (Yankees 660 WFAN) even a station out of Baltimore. Many weak locals too, so she is better than some 6 tube sets I have.
So while speaker is small, and tube count low, Philco could still design a set that was reasonably sensitive even in 1953. Icon_wink

I guess not hard to engeineer into a lower end set. 1.7 to 3.4 mc was an old police, fire, marine radio band. You could hear some fun stuff, not sure what is there now. Have to listen. More than likely a way to say this radio is better than just an AM set.
