I have not used this set in a while, simple 6 tuber, extra tube helps. Funny how some sets get pushed to the back of your collection. I always liked the cabinet as to me it has a design that is very 1940's. Broadcast Band only.

Popped in a new grille cloth, looks nice under the wooden grill. Plays well and picks up my 250 watt beautiful music station very well. So will go with her for a week or so, I am making an effort to play through my sets, see what's playing well and what may need help or need to be moved.

Sometimes simple is good. Even in Radioland.  Icon_wink

That's a rather nice little set Paul Icon_smile

I don't hold with furniture that talks.

Silvertone has gone downstairs, Atlas has come up, plays pretty well, fairly sensitive but needs a bit more volume, yu have to turn it up a bit but then it is fine.

Looks decent, Fred taylor did the case  and he made a simple looking one  look real nice, I like the rolltop look near the dial.

That Atlas looks great Paul!  I remember when you bought that one:

After several hours of listening my opinion could use a little more bass from the speaker, a little thin sounding but crisp. Atlas looks better than sounds but that is OK.

I think I may bring up another for today.

Great looking sets!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who cycles through a radio collection.

Cycling yes, need to see how they are doing, my collection is too big for my home but small by most standards. Funny how your tastes change and you fall in love again  with an old set you had for several years, if you do not find yourself enamored with it maybe time to move it to new home.

For me it would be very hard to part with any of my radios. I have loved listening to radio since I was very young about 7 years old. My grandmother would put on the Admiral radio in the living room and I would listen to it for hours! She always used to listen to 570 am the good guys on WMCA. I would fall asleep listening to it. To this day my Philco 38-116 console radio is on in my bedroom at night and it puts me to sleep. Especially in the cold months. I love radio!  It's funny what you remember from your childhood..... meanwhile you do not remember what you had for dinner the night before.

Oh yes know the feeling, did I feed the cat last week?

As long as there is something decent to listen to, the glow, the warmth, the sound of a voice, very comforting.
