How to rebuild 30-2045 filter condenser
#1

Hello again.

I'm confused by philco part 30-2045. This is a ganged electrolytic condenser used in the 650 (650X?).

It has two parts: 8uF and 10uF. however, the usage of it in the schematic is confusing me with regards to how the two separate caps are laid out.

Are they just ground-to-ground? Or is one of them "floating" with regard to the other one and so they are actually plus to minus with a sort of center tap?

One end of the 10uF does go directly to ground. But the 8uF isn't near enough to a ground for me to figure out which end is which...if that makes sense.

Hi

In this electrolytic, the negative leads of both capacitors are tied together, and connect to the electrolytic can. The negative ends (the can) both go to B- (center tap of the power transformer).

The positive lead of the 10 uF, 50 volt cap goes to ground. The other positive terminal is the 8 uF cap, and it goes into the B+ circuit.

Hope this helps.
