91X or 19X who knows?
#1

FIRST POST.
Hey,

I have a a-91 chassis, code 221, got it at an industrial auction came with some other stuff
so this should be a 91x, but the top is the top is the same as a 19x from the photos.
I guess its as you suggested that any prior remaining pieces were used for production that year. Seems to be in pretty good condition, the plug on the electric cord got torn off and top of the glass exterior of one small bulb is broken, the inside looks fine it just got smashed in the last shop move, can this be repaired or do I need to replace it??
One knob is missing front center, and it needs some refinishing on the wood mostly on the top its like bare wood.
I would like to fire it up. Should I?
So I would assume the bulb and power cord would be addressed first.
Anyone know how scarce is this model?
I will post a pic as soon as possible as explained above I don't see this photo in the gallery the nearest thing is the 91x 19x swap over ( lower speaker cabinet 91x)
(upper half is the 19x assembly) as per your photos. is this common?
Any advice would be useful

Kind regards,

Wild Will

Hello and welcome.

There are two versions of the 91X. Here is the first one (June 1932):

And the second (June 1933):

Not just no, but H**l, no!!! To do so is just inviting disaster. Read these pages for more details:

In short (no pun intended), if you try to "fire it up" now, you might really fire it up! Icon_eek

Don't know exactly what you mean here. Photos would be very helpful.

Oh, and those aren't bulbs, they are tubes. Icon_smile

Will send photos ASAP,

Thx,

No, once a tube is broken it is no longer any good and will have to be replaced.

It is entirely possible for your 91X to have the top section that looks like an early 91X - or like the early 19X - and a bottom that looks like the late 91X. Probably an undocumented factory variant.

Looking forward to the photos. Icon_smile
