37-62 Woes
#1

I have one of these beasties in fairly good shape--except for the cabinet.
As my fellow Philcophiles know, it is SUPPOSED to have photofinish on its front. Once you mistakenly start to 'refinish' the poor thing, all you can do is finish your botch job. Icon_cry There IS no going back and repairing your mistake!!
So what I now have is a rather wan-looking 37-62. And I'm looking to pick the brains of my fellow Philco lovers as to making the best out of it. I'm thinking about doing the front in VDB to hide the PLAIN wood now visible, and to do the rest in medium walnut. Any BETTER ideas?? Icon_confused

Re-do the Photo-Finish.

Not a lot of "rocket-science." ;)

See these two links from my MISC page:

Chuck, I tried to access that page off the Repair Bench site and all I get is a "403 forbidden--you are not allowed to access" message. Icon_sad Your server evidently hates my computer!! Icon_lol But if it can be done, I want to do it!

Sorry TN, not my fault.

Those two links have subsequently gone dead.

Hey, tubenutt

Did you find out anything more about replacing the photofinish? I searched around on Antique Radio Forum looking for a post from you but found none.
The reason I ask is I just picked up a 37-62 for 10 bucks. Its in great shape except the cabinet. See pictures. Was your cabinet this bad?

It's not what you don't know that hurts you it's what you know that's not so.
