Philco 650X shadowmeter in operation
#1

Just a short vid showing the shadowmeter in operation after repair. Thanks to Ron Ramirez for his help. This would be the same for most 36 models using the oval bezel with a shadowmeter.

That is neat. I personally prefer seeing a shadowmeter vary from a very wide shadow to very narrow, as Brian's 650 does in this video, than the ones that do not vary to a great degree.

If I lose the antenna, it naturally opens up very wide, yet still narrows up fairly well on a flame thrower station. The sensitivity of this sets keeps the noise floor high, hence showing less movement. I would like to get it a little bit narrower. I've thought about re-energizing the permanent magnet as stated on Chuck's site.

I enjoyed the video, and as usual the next thing I know an hour has passed. From shadowmeter to radio restoration to exploding capacitors
to electrical storms to tactical nukes. I am afraid if I stay on You Tube too long I will end up watching Armageddon.
