Three 80s? That doesn't sound right... That tuning meter is kinda like the one I had on a Stromberg-Carlson.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Probably should be one 80 and 2 45's judging from the general age and rest of the tube complement.

Or it possibly uses a pair of 71As, #50s, or 2A3s, but it could be #45s. The set somewhat resembles a Stromberg Carlson, they liked to use tuning meters in some of their sets.

I love it. ![Icon_clap Icon_clap](https://philcoradio.com/phorum/images/smilies/icon_clap.gif) Nice looking radio. Do you have the shield for the RF section? It appears to have used one, perhaps you took it off for pictures. Looks like a lot of fun (or heart ache).

Sam, This is a great find. What does it say on that meter? Something like Tune Matic? Joe

Sam, I've spent several hours over the last couple of days looking at radio photos across the web. The thing I've noticed is that Stromberg-Carlson radios with the meter have the meter movement 'swinging' from the bottom. Your radio meter movement swings from the top. I also haven't found (so far) a S-C with a meter in a large/tombstone cabinet. However, the way that your radios chassis is built is strongly reminiscent of some S-C's. There's even an Edison that looked similar. I'll continue to look but I think that once you open everything up there may be labeling inside the chassis. Two questions: What does it say on the face of the meter, and are those sliding doors on the front? Thanks, Joe

Maybe it is an American Bosch model? That chassis looks like one I ran into in a photo, while researching something else.

By Jove, I think Arrans got it! The American Bosch 58A chassis even has "ALIGN6JM" on the back.
See http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/americanbo_58a.html
The radio doesn't have the meter, but that chassis looks to be the same. I wonder if the meter was an option or aftermarket. Joe

Looks like Sam's radio is missing the nameplate, which fits over the terminal strip that's exposed on his.
The Radiomuseum photo of the plate says not to remove without unplugging from AC outlet, which make sense since it covers the line voltage selection terminals.

I agree that the chassis is very similar, but there is a big difference: this one has more controls. Also is less ornate. I can't find pics of some of the other close models, but suspect it could be a 59 or a 60.

Brenda, I think you are right. The model 60 has the extra AVC tube and the tuning meter.
