I got my 47 204 grill today! how to make plastic copies?
#1

As many of you know I am trying to copy the grill for the 47-204.
I ended up buying the entire radio and ripping it apart to get the grill.
I am mailing it out this week to a friend who says they can make as many copies as I want or she will mail me the mold and I can do it myself.

I think I am going to take the mold but what do you guys use to make copies? I have seen a lot of people making plastic replacements but I am not familiar with plastics. I only work with rubber and cement so any ideas would be great.

Thanks
Kirk

Tap Plastics sells different types of epoxy/plastics that you mix with a hardener and pour into a mold. Thats the usual way of doing it. I have used it to make small parts that you cant buy, works very well. There are videos on UTube showing how to do it.

I have used tap plastics for my silicone mold making. Is there a certain one I should use to make strong plastic grills.

Thanks

They do have different types for doing different things. You could look on their site on the internet and find which one sounds like its what you want, or you can talk to one of them at the store to suggest which one is best. Also, you can achieve different results using a little more or less hardener to make it harder or a little more pliable. You can also use colors and make it any color you want it to be.
