Philco 39-30 Pushbutton Removal
#1

The pushbuttons are too short on the Philco 39-30 ( 1 1/8 inches long ). New pushbottons have been ordered ( 1 5/8 inches long ). How do you remove the old push buttons? I tried to pull them hard but did not want to break anything.

Thank you,

These pushbuttons should just slide on and off snugly. If they were replacement buttons, some one may have glued them on. Use some nail polish remover to unstick them. If they are the original buttons, they may be just stuck on from age. Use a pair of pliers to crack them apart and clean off shafts to install new ones.

The pushbuttons on my 39-25 were in such bad shape they crumbled easily and fell off. The new reproduction buttons will just slide on.

Hello! I actually just joined so this is my first post and I'm stuck and have a question. I have a 46-1209 and I can't find replacement pushbuttons anywhere I am only in need of one of them. I figured since you guys are talking about removing them and installing new ones maybe you would know where my specific model replacement s might be found thanx!!! Btw maybe I'll post what I am doing with mine it might interest some

Welcome to the Phorum Boz. I don't know if anyone makes a reproduction pushbutton for that model but the best sources for pushbuttons and knobs are the folks listed here: http://www.philcoradio.com/resourceb.htm#l . Try each one until you find someone who happens to have one. I've personally worked with Dave, Julie and Mike. John Kendall has some other 46-1209 parts if you find you need them, though he seems to have sold out of his pushbuttons (type 46-1209 in the search box).

Thank you I will do that when I have a few moments! ! I've had a project in mind that I've wanted to do for years but what I'm doing might drive you guys crazy!!! I don't know if it's rude but maybe I'll start a thread about it . Again thanks for the reply and I did not me to thread jack at all.
