supplier,output transformers
#1

Anyone have a good lead on where we can find output transformers for our old Philco's?
I have posted ads in both forums with no luck.
Need one for a philco 41-230.
Any suggestions?

I bought from AES for my 70. Ebay is also a decent source. And the Hammonds. And some custom manufacturers.

Murph;

One company I have heard recommended is:
www.heyboertransformers.com
They are said to be relatively inexpensive and do custom transformer construction. If you know the physical dimensions and can provide the needs regarding voltage and current in the primary plus the type of output circuit (single ended or push-pull) and the output tube types they could build something that should be almost identical to the original. If you have the old part they may be able to build one using the old frame and leaves. That would be especially nice as it may include the original part number. Modern materials would be used so the part would likely be more resistant to failure in the future.

Edcor, I remembered now. They have very decent prices.
But there is a catch - they carry no stock - they take orders and when they ahve enough they make a batch to the order. I forgot their lead time, could be a couple of months. But the prices seem simply great, about 1/2 of Hammond.

I second Edcor. I had them build a transformer for my #18. Their website is easy to spec out exactly what you may be looking for, number of taps, voltages, demensions, etc. It took about four weeks for me to get my order, that was about a year or so ago.
