Need Help Identifying this Philco
#1

I am headed to look at this one today. I did not see a similar cabinet in the gallery. The ID label is not quite clear enough to read. Partial shot of the chassis gives me the idea that it might be a 11 tube model 16 chassis. Any ideas?

Oh, that one again. I thought it sold a few months ago.

I believe it was identified but that the bottom was custom made.

Thanks Ron

I went ahead and paid the seller a visit. Decided to take it home.

That must have been a popular cabinet maker/company because a local radio club member has a philco 71 in that same cabinet.

I have to admit, that cabinet does have a neat look to it.

No matter where you go, there you are.

Now that it's home with some clean up here are some better shots

How tall is it?

Looks like a different solution to 'No stoop no squat no squint'... Put it up higher in the air!

Gotta change those knobs.

The cabinet does have a distinctive 30's feel, kinda cool.

Nice find ! I wish you would post some pics of the chassis, but perhaps you are saving those for the "electronic restoration" section. I really look forward to following your progress with this radio. Good luck !

Roy, I love that cabinet! Those legs are not likely to come off. Just a unique and pleasing style. Much more interesting than most radios from that era.
